Vehicles in Germany's Town Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Police reported they were alerted by a individual who found a car in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Officers then found multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say early analysis indicate the fluid was likely human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; officials are not yet aware of any harm in association with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the community for information.

An important representative commented the incident rendered him without words and required to be solved quickly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
